Mt 5:4 - Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
The church has always made the care of the grieving a priority in her ministry, beginning with the example of Jesus himself. The reference in the Beatitudes, the miraculous raising of Lazarus – all are clear expressions of the Lord’s concern for those experiencing the pain of the loss of a loved one.
St. James' Bereavement Ministry helps to assist families and individuals in their time of grieving and loss. Combined with St. Oscar Romero Parish, the goal is that no member of the parish grieve alone, but each be sustained by parish bereavement volunteers who offer compassion and spiritual support. We strive to bring a spiritual presence and hope to the bereaved so that those who are mourning the death of a loved one may know the comfort of God through our parishes.
