Ushers & Greeters
Ushers and Greeters are called to be Ministers of Hospitality. They are entrusted with promoting a sense of welcoming and belonging to all of the faithful assembled for worship. They are the first point of contact for the communal celebration of the Liturgy and, because of this, they should take special steps in being servants of Jesus Christ and one another. The ushers and greeters welcome people to weekend Masses. They choose and direct the gift bearers, take up the collection, and help direct people during the reception of Holy Communion. They also assist latecomers in finding seats and are attentive to other situations that might arise during the Celebration of the Eucharist.

Altar servers assist at Mass. Youth Altar servers, ages 9-17, are scheduled for most weekend and Holy Day Masses. As young servers mature, they may be given the option to serve at weddings and funerals. Students from JFK also serve at the Friday 8:15 am Mass when school is in session.
Participating as an altar server is a wonderful spiritual experience that can greatly enhance a young person's Catholic faith. We do ask that parents consider the maturity, behavior, and availability of their child before making the significant committment to join the altar server program. New servers are provided with several formal training sessions and detailed written instructions. Parental involvement is strongly encouraged.
Adult servers assist at the daily masses.
Contact Alana Garrison at 724-225-1425, ext 308, if you are interested in serving.
Children's Liturgy of the Word
Children's Liturgy of the Word is for young children so that they may hear and better understand the Sunday Scripture readings. Children ages 4 years old through third grade are dismissed from the 10:30AM Mass at Immaculate Conception on Sunday, and a catechist and aide accompany them to the church hall. There, they hear the Sunday readings on their own level.
The catechists are fully initiated persons who have a desire to share the Sunday Scripture with small children. The helpers are any Catholic young person of high school age or older.
